Content Style Guide

1. Introduction

This Content Style Guide outlines the requirements and restrictions for all music content submitted to Waves Music Group for distribution. Compliance with these guidelines ensures that your releases meet the legal, technical, and quality standards required by our partner platforms.

2. General Submission Requirements

• All content must be original or properly licensed for distribution.
  
  

• Metadata must be accurate and must not contain misleading, promotional, or irrelevant information.
  
  

• Audio files must meet industry standards (minimum 16-bit / 44.1kHz WAV).
  
  

• Artwork must be high-resolution (minimum 3000x3000 pixels) and must not contain explicit or copyrighted material without permission.
  
  

3. Prohibited and Restricted Content

The following types of content are prohibited or require special conditions before distribution:

3.1. Illegal or Infringing Content

Any content that infringes copyrights, trademarks, publicity rights, or any other intellectual property rights without permission is strictly prohibited.

3.2. Misleading Metadata

Metadata must not contain false artist names, fake track titles, or references intended to mislead listeners or manipulate search results.

3.3. Hate Speech and Offensive Material

Content that promotes hate speech, violence, or discrimination will be rejected.

3.4. Remixes and Covers (Rights Requirement)

• We accept and distribute remixes and cover versions only if you provide all required legal documentation proving that you have the rights to use the underlying composition, sound recording, and any other protected elements.
  
  

• Acceptable documentation includes, but is not limited to:
  
  

  • License agreements from the copyright holder(s).
    
    

  • Written permissions from the publisher(s) and/or master owner(s).
    
    

  • Proof of licensing from authorized agencies.
    
    

• Releases submitted without proper legal documentation will be rejected until the required permissions are provided.
  
  

4. Technical Quality Standards

• Audio must be free of distortion, background noise, or abrupt cut-offs.
  
  

• Volume levels must be consistent and meet platform loudness standards.
  
  

• No watermarks, sound effects, or voice tags are allowed unless part of the approved artistic concept.
  
  

5. Artwork Guidelines

• No URLs, social media handles, or price information allowed on artwork.
  
  

• No explicit imagery unless marked as "Explicit" in metadata and compliant with platform policies.
  
  

• No references to illegal drugs, hate symbols, or offensive language unless artistically justified and approved.
  
  

6. Final Approval

All content is subject to final review by Waves Music Group. We reserve the right to reject any content that does not comply with these guidelines or the policies of our partner platforms.
